Spindle Box Game | TENS BOX

$20.74

What is a Spindle Box?

That was my question when I originally found this learning resource. I loved the idea of the number boxes, I loved the idea of the perfect amount of spindles and the inclusion of zero and its symbol but I had never heard of the name 'spindle box'

To begin with you can introduce younger children the 0-4 box, once they master that then you can introduce the 5 - 9 box.

The best bit about these boxes is that not only can they be used with the sticks but also with loose parts. Imagine a bowl of pom poms and tongs to go with it!

All the details ~
Purpose:
• The spindles clarify the idea that the symbols represent a certain quantity of separate objects.
• To introduce the concept of zero and its symbol.
• To reinforce the natural sequence of the numerals.

Indirect
• To reinforce the idea that there are no other symbols other than 0 to 9.

Control of Error
• If the counting has been incorrect, at the end there will be either an insufficient number of spindles or some left over.

Size: 16 x 10 cm
Shape: 2 boxes fit together to make a rectangle box
Material: Wood
Includes: 2 boxes & 45 spindles (45 spindles needed to play the game) total 47 pieces.
